To say I am Oprah-excited would be an understatement – it is with great pride and joy I introduce a new web series Housemates. Created by talented friend Monique Needham, Housemates is a drama following the ups and downs of a close group of five twenty-something girls living together.
Inspired by some of 29-year-old Monique’s real-life experiences, be prepared to join Mya, Chenayi,Jade, Zara and Michelle, as they take you through the mundane but funny reality of living with your friends.
This ‘Friends’ meets ‘Made In Chelsea’ docu-drama, gives insight into the special bond of female friendship, through its individual characters. Talking about her inspiration for ‘Housemates’, Monique says the drama will fill a gap in TV programming in the UK. “I want to show characters that reflect my world, I want to see characters I relate to on British television and I’m bored of having to watch American shows to find them.” I have personally always been very vocal about my frustration at the lack of representation of characters like me, that I relate to, I do NOT relate to Denise from Eastenders and therefore I am glad that Monique has created Housemates to start filling in that very conspicuous gap in British television.
“I wanted to portray strong friendships between women because I believe that many people who watch have an element of these characters in their circles.”
Mya is the poser housemate that is tough on the outside but an absolute softie on the inside.
Chenayi is the quirky housemate, when she’s not busy being loud, she is totally engrossed with technology including her iPhone.
Jade always has an opinion and is the housemate most likely to be honest and tell you, your bum looks big in that outfit.
Zara, is the housemate that will catch you red-handed doing something naughty, and will never let you live it down.
Michelle is the social butterfly of the group and is the housemate most likely to talk to that cute guy standing at the bar.
Ahead of the launch of the first season, GetNeeks productions are giving you the opportunity to get to know and love the #Housemates through unmissable tasters.
Kicking off on 11 February, four daily YouTube minisodes will show snippets of the exciting mayhem that occurs when these girls are caught on camera.
With Housemates providing an original spin on the modern day female, and the occasional disagreement, be prepared for a roller coaster of addictive entertainment.
You’ll be able to join in on the big #Housemate conversation on Twitter, where the characters will be giving you more insight into who they are.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s
hard to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance.
I must say you’ve done a very good job with this.
