Web Watch: #HouseMates

group
To say I am Oprah-excited would be an understatement – it is with great pride and joy I introduce a new web series Housemates. Created by  talented friend  Monique NeedhamHousemates is a drama following the ups and downs of a close group of five twenty-something girls living together.
Inspired by some of 29-year-old Monique’s real-life experiences, be prepared to join Mya, Chenayi,Jade, Zara and Michelle, as they take you through the mundane but funny reality of living with your friends.
This ‘Friends’ meets ‘Made In Chelsea’ docu-drama, gives insight into the special bond of female friendship, through its individual characters. Talking about her inspiration for ‘Housemates’, Monique says the drama will fill a gap in TV programming in the UK. “I want to show characters that reflect my world, I want to see characters I relate to on British television and I’m bored of having to watch American shows to find them.”  I have personally always been very vocal about my frustration at the lack of representation of characters like me, that I relate to, I do NOT relate to Denise from Eastenders and therefore I am glad that Monique has created Housemates to start filling in that very conspicuous gap in British television.
“I wanted to portray strong friendships between women because I believe that many people who watch have an element of these characters in their circles.”
