The whole ethos behind the New Africa Issue is to showcase the talent of African people which shows the Africa we want everyone to see and also shows that we love watching that we relate to. Web shows = the core of Chaud. So what are we watching this Autumn? Well here goes:
1. Love Games Zambia Season 2
Edutainment – is one apt word to describe Love Games Zambia. This show made and filmed in Zambia is a great show which educates about HIV/AIDS, whilst entertaining us with the lives of the young Zambians. Highly addictive and any African would be filled with pride of such quality programming coming from the motherland.
2. The Brothers With No Game Season 2
Firstly The Brothers With No Game have raised the bar very high with their great writing, acting and all in all a great show! The memorable one liners, awkward situations and that game situation for the guys – well like the BBM app for iphone it is still a work in progress. Get on to this great show from this side of the pond!
3. Black&Sexy Tv
If you have never watched a show from the Black & Sexy TV stable then reassess your life – no shade but shade. The one thing that was missing this summer was their shows. However as autumn and winter hits, making sure we spend more time in doors – these guys know just what would keep us company – THEIR SHOWS!
Now if you will please diarise these:
That Guy Season 2 – October 6
Minute Man (a new all eye candy Talk Show) – October 17
Yellow – a new docu-series with Austen Jay – November 2013
RoomieLoverFriends Season 2.5 – December 2013
Hello Cupid Season 2 – February 2014
4. The Choir
Created by the talented Issa Rae (creator of Awkward Black Girl) and shown on Alright TV this show is hilarious! I’d never thought I’d ever hear a Janet Jackson song in church but they pulled it off and very well too! We know already know whatever Issa is going to put her talented hands on is just going to be viewing gold and this show is no exception.
5. ABG – Pet Peeves Wednesdays
Talking of Issa, on Wednesdays she shares Awkward Black Girl Pet Peeves and this are things that annoy us all. She did the one with fitted sheets – I hate fitted sheets – and on the day this went up, I had also walked away in frustration thanks to my fitted mattress protector – actually one corner is not tucked in at the moment because I can’t be arsed! Watch these for guaranteed laughs.
6. The New Africa
Ndani TV channel is one we recommend you all to subscribe to. They have a great quality of web shows – created and shot in Nigeria. The New Africa will showcase all of Africa’s gems from my beloved Cape Town to Nigeria – we can not wait for the show’s premier!
We have now committed to ‘live tweeting’ our favourite shows and would like you to join us. Web shows are the new TV
