There really is a giant chasm between keeping it real and being an asshole.
The above video and comments were on one of my favourite blogs by my imaginary brothers over at Single Black Male. This past week I came across different variables of ‘honest’ assholes – pardon me for my language but some people claim ‘I’m just being honest’ or in Ray J voice ‘Keeping It 100′ when actually they’re being rude and it’s usually when you have been diplomatic in your approach to them.
Anyway back to the funny video above tackling honesty on a first date – if only it were all so simple, it would save people from emotional and time investments and also who knows even connections that might not have been created. The reason I posted the comments from the blog is because they summed up my sentiments on honesty and those who deliver it. Some opt for backhanded compliments and some deliver it in such a way that is easily acceptable and not deemed in any way offensive or a-hole material. I’m of the school of thought that honesty is the best policy but deliverance is also key and a major factor.

The video is hilarious…I agree some people actually think they’re being ‘honest’ and ‘keeping it real’ when in fact it’s rudeness, lack of tact and just unnecessary and the ones who are the worst are those who fool themselves and say ‘some people can’t handle the truth’ Err no ma’am yours ain’t the truth you lack diplomacy.
PS: How in the world do you know that RayJ ‘Keep it 100’ or as he’d say ‘one hun’en’ song?Didn’t even know he made a song of his favourite saying! Only you guys at Chaud would know this!LOL
