Editor’s Note: The Identity Beyond The Trends Issue

September always feels like a season of return: to rhythm, to routine, to the pages of the fashion issue that anchors our year. Fashion, at its core, is not just about what we wear but how we choose to present our identities, our intentions, and our imaginations. Our Fashion Editor reminds us of this truth and guides us through translating these ideas into the rich textures and moods of autumn dressing.

This issue, though, stretches far beyond hemlines and silhouettes. We lean into the joy of slowing down, of choosing depth over distraction. Our Lifestyle pieces encourage a return to long-form reading as a remedy to doom scrolling, and to recipe books as companions in the kitchen instead of relying solely on AI prompts. Culture-wise, we explore the unspoken bond between Hip-Hop and reading a conversation that would also include Stormzy, whose passion for books sparked the creation of Merky Books.

Strength is another recurring theme. Our Health and Fitness Editor champions strength training as an essential practice for every woman, reminding us that strong is not a passing trend, it’s always in season. In Opinion, we grapple with the death of individual thought, unpacking how groupthink and trend cycles are reshaping how we see ourselves and the world. And, in our signature series The Brief, The Artist, The Scent, we revel in Christian Louboutin’s seductively beautiful rose and cherry creation, Fétiche La Rose.

This marks our 11th issue since Chaud Magazine 2.0 was reborn. Next month, we celebrate one year and we want you, our readers, to take center stage. Our October issue will be dedicated to your voices, your essays, your reflections. Send us the piece you’ve been itching to write; we want to showcase the breadth of your joys, your curiosities, and the stories only you can tell.

With gratitude for every article you click on, every word you linger over.

Warmly,

Reenie

  1. Thank you author. This is perfect issue as we look towards the third quarter of the year. A reminder that back to school and back to routine doesn’t have to mean back to the mundane. It can also bring an opportunity to be reflective and intentional about how we present ourselves. Also it allows an opportunity to slow down and revaluate where we are now whether we are still aligned with our individual goals and plans or following trends and group thought.

ps it’s also a personal reminder (for me) to get in that gym. It’s not too late to start that good (strength training) habit.
