Editor’s Note: The One About Reinventing the Everyday

There’s something about spring that makes reinvention feel not just possible, but necessary. Maybe it’s the way the light shifts; longer days, bolder blooms, and a quiet insistence in the air that says: you can begin again. This April, we’re embracing that energy in full bloom with a theme that’s close to my heart: Breaking the Mould: Reinventing the Everyday.

In this issue, we’re slowing things down with intention. Our feature on the art of slow living invites you to breathe deeper, choose joy over urgency, and embrace presence over perfection. If you’ve ever wondered why a spritz of fragrance can shift your whole mood, The Psychology of Scent will take you into the olfactive wonders of the mind paired perfectly with our Scent Story on Maison Crivelli’s Rose Saltifolia, a salt-kissed floral that reimagines what a rose can be.

And because spring isn’t just for blooming flowers, but fresh starts too, we’re spring cleaning your finances, giving your budget a refresh worthy of a capsule wardrobe. For those itching to try something new, we’re spotlighting the joy in the unexpected: reinventing daily life through hobbies like cross stitching, LEGO-building, and the underrated magic of knitting your own calm.

Our Fitness Editor tackles how to make movement feel less like punishment and more like play, while our book of the month, Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, offers a literary escape into memory, power, and the worlds we create within. April is the month of reinvention, of shedding the ordinary and leaning into the unexpected. Our Fashion Editor shares tips on how to elevate your wardrobe and embrace a new kind of everyday chic.

Breaking the mould doesn’t always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it starts with the courage to ask, what if I did this differently? So this month, let’s try. Let’s breathe slower, choose joy on purpose, and give ourselves permission to begin again, even if it’s just with a different scent, a new book, or a pair of knitting needles.

Here’s to a season of fresh starts and blooming in unexpected ways.

With love, light, and just a little bit of LEGO,

Reenie

  1. As the lenten season winds up, it’s so refreshing to lean into renewal, intentionality, and slow living. I am particularly excited to dive into the slow living article as I feel that everything is going so fast these days (how are we already in April? I swear we were celebrating the new year). Off I go and hats off to the team for providing us another edition of Chaud 😘
