There is something about July that feels like possibility incarnate. The air is warmer, the sun lingers longer, and time feels just a little more forgiving. At Chaud, we wanted to bottle that sensation, the beauty of blooming, of basking, and most importantly, of belonging. That’s why this month, we bring you The Sisterhood Issue a celebration of the sacred bonds between women, the ways we show up for each other, and the vibrant, complex lives we live in connection.
This issue is full of firsts and full of heart.
We’re proud to present our first-ever photographic editorial capturing London in full bloom a visual love letter to the city. In those images, you’ll find softness, strength, and the spirited freedom of summer. Much thanks to our photographer Tia!
In The Chaud Summer Table, our editors share easy, nourishing recipes for your next garden party, balcony brunch, or intimate dinner. These meals are designed for gathering made to be prepped with ease and served with love.
This month’s Love & Relationship feature invites you to pause and take stock. With the year’s halfway mark behind us, it’s a powerful moment to reassess. What connections are rooted in love? What needs releasing? What deserves more intention? It’s an energy reset not just for our romantic relationships, but for how we hold space for ourselves and others.
In Money Talks, we’re turning up the volume on a vital conversation: Black women and financial empowerment. We dismantle the myth that we have to be silent, humble, or grateful when it comes to our earning power. We deserve wealth not just financially, but holistically and we deserve to lead the conversation.
Our Health & Lifestyle piece challenges the tired notion that caring about your appearance is shallow. As our Health Editor writes so insightfully, how we tend to ourselves inside and out is a direct reflection of how we value our well-being. Looking good is part of feeling good.
Fashion this month is deeply personal. Our Fashion Editor explores the unique joy of dressing up together. From matching scents to synchronized style choices, this is fashion as language, as legacy, as love letter. Whether it’s cousins getting ready for a family wedding or best friends heading out for brunch, sisterhood has always had a signature look.
We also dig into the online luxury delusion, how the internet’s obsession with hyper-curated lifestyles has distorted what success, happiness, and even rest looks like. It’s time for a much-needed reset.
And from my personal writing space, I’ve shared an entry from my newly launched Substack, Olfactory Letters, where I explore the rich, royal history of perfume in pre-colonial Southern Africa. It’s a fragrant reminder that our ancestry was scented, styled, and sovereign. Be sure to subscribe for more scent musings and cultural storytelling.
This issue is more than pages it’s a pause. A call to connect, to remember, to reach out to your girls, your chosen sisters, your day-ones and your new soulmates. Call her. Text her. Send this issue to her. Better yet, read it together.
Here’s to a summer filled with light, laughter, and the unshakeable magic of sisterhood.
With love and warmth,
Reenie
