Autumn/Winter Make Up Survival Kit

n1

That’s it then, summer is over, but the trends set to take off this Autumn/Winter are exciting enough that we would be forgiven for actually looking forward to the cooler temps….just a little. Here is your very own survival kit to keep your makeup in Vogue throughout the next few months.

Grey and nude nails:

Not much says sophisticated Autumn chic like a short neat, nude or grey manicure.  Deborah Lipman showcased beautiful greys and nude polishes for the Richard Chai Autumn Winter show and either of these shades are now reproduced by almost all brands in some shape or form.  I’m in love with Almost Nude by Collection, two coats will leave your talons looking preened and chip free for up to a week!

Purple Lips

This summer trend is definitely one worth carrying through to autumn. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t wear purple lipstick, it’s one of the most wearable shades for darker skin tones, believe me you will be pleasantly surprised.  The cool tones compliment classic autumn browns and beiges.  If you don’t feel you can jump straight in at the deep end with a bright purple then try Mystic by Sleek, this pinky purple sits firmly on the wearable end of the purple lippy spectrum so now you have no excuse!

Reflective illuminator

If you aren’t a cosmetics enthusiast this may sound a bit like a terrifying beauty contraption but fear not, a good illuminator will simply reinstate that radiance in your skin that the wind, cold and rain seem to suck out.  Mix a tiny drop of Orgasm by NARS in with your foundation for a subtle glow or dab along your cheek bones for a more dramatic highlight.

The smokey eye….again!

The good old faithful smokey eye trend never really leaves us, it has the power to reinvent itself time and time again, each time with a slight tweak .  sweep  a bit of black shadow into the sockets of your lids for a subtle smoke, try Carbon by MAC or go all out with metallic shades and really let your creativity run wild, Sleek sunset palette should let you do just that.

Hopefully you now feel armed and ready to embrace the new season.

Until next time loves…
