Dear 2024

Hi, I’m Takunda and I’m a content creator! It’s been a great year personally and work wise. It has been my highest earning year so far but I have only been doing this properly since lockdown so hopefully the upward trajectory continues. I have released 4 successful collections with Amazon to date which I’m really proud. It also illuminated how much hard work goes into making a clothing collection from design to product. The most meaningful moments always involve my instagram community, I have the most engaged and supportive audience who have poured love and life into me right from the beginning and they continue to do so. It’s truly wonderful and I love them with my whole heart! They have changed my life and the keep me inspired.

Much like all the other industries as a black woman and creator you have to look after yourself, no one is coming to save you. You are your own hero. I don’t have a team and do everything myself so suffered severe burn out. I still haven’t recovered but an doing so much better but it was really scary because for a while I lost the love of what I do and that’s a bleak mindset to be in. So I stopped and tried to get some rest but the guilt of not showing up was eating me up so it was never truly restful. So my biggest takeway is to outsource help wherever you can. I know it’s a luxury a lot of us can’t afford but look at it as an investment into your health and business. 

I’m hoping to return to self in 2025 so I continue to show up for myself and my community.
